ABC Mini Task

Karl Blossfeldt

Karl Blossfeldt who died in 1932 was a German photographer who is known for the close-up images of plants and flora. He was trained as a sculptor and he was also an amateur botanist. He was fascinated by the structures of nature.  He created his own type of camera lens to be able to get very close to the plants and keep extreme detail. Karl's Photos look like they have some sort of sepia tone, so i matched this with my ABC mini task. I added the sepia filter after all the photos were together to give it the skin coloured effect. My ABC mini task all follows a theme of things you can find in a work shop.

Existing found alphabets

Chelsea Sektnan found this alphabet around a construction site. I like this because the letters are not obvious when they are in a single picture but when they are all put together in a one it does look like an alphabet. For example the letter Q out of the second image just looks like a clock on its own but when its placed next to all the other letters it forms an alphabet which doesn't look that bad.

Edits

These are the 27 images i took originally because any editing. I had trouble finding the letter 'R'  and all i could find was this printed letter. But after some more looking around i found a tool hung up in the shed that did look quite good...
This 'R' is much better than the printed 'R' because it was naturally found.

I used pages to crop and align my photos. This was a good program to use as it allows you to drag the images around freely and easily edit them. At the end I took a screen shot of it and added a sepia / black and white filter on to make it continue a theme of Karl Blossfeldt.

PLATON

I like this Photographers work because it shows power. The black and white is simple but gives off a good effect, and that the camera is exactly level with his eyes. Platon's portrait work is good because all of his models are famous and give off a very serious emotion.

This photo shows Platon's style and the seriousness in the models facial expression. The black and white really makes the photo more powerful. The emotion given off by Platon's photos are always strong and powerful.

This photo is in the style of Platon, the model is not famous but the photo follows Platon's style of photography. She is eye level with the camera and is not focusing on the photographer. The Black and  white makes the photo more powerful.

Candid Shot and Posed Selfie

Whats the Difference?

Candid shots are taken without the model knowing.
Selfies are taken by the model themselves.

Both of these photos the models are smoking but the difference is that in the top one Yuli doesn't know the picture was being taken where as i did. This makes the first picture candid and the second one posed. In the first photo the colours and brightness and low and dull, in the second one they are high and bright. To make these photos better i would make them both be in conditions with lots of natural light and maybe choose a different location so there is a nice background.

2 Best Edited Photo's

I edited these photos on adobe photo shop, so i could bring out the vibrant colours in his fur. I played around with the lights, blacks and contrast. I rated all of my photographs out of 5 stars and these turned out to be the top 2. I think these are the best ones because they are the clearest and sharpest images. So from there i edited them in camera raw and then opened and edited them in photoshop.
12 Initial Portraits

These are pet portraits of my dog woody. I choose him because his fur looked really nice in the natural light, you can see a lot of different shades and colours in the fur. It was hard getting him to look at the camera because obviously he didn't know it was getting taken. I held a treat by the lens so he kept looking strait into the camera. Next time I would get a better background, maybe like a beach or a forest.
